Asia stands out with a 35% growth in FTTH

According to Wire and Cable news, Asian telecoms released new data, revealing that more than 300 million business and homes across Asia-Pacific now have access to fiber services a 35% growth.

IDATE and the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific informed that 115.8 million fiber subscribers in Asia with 338 million homes passed. An increase of 36,8% when compared to 2013.

The President of the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific, Peter Macaulay declared: “Smart Cities are being built upon fibre, including Fibre-to-the Home (FTTH), Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB), Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) and Fibre-to-the-Antenna (FTTA), to support higher speeds and the increasing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices for the Smart Home."

IDATE also revealed the top countries for fiber deployment in percentage of home passed, Japan came out top with 100% homes passed , South Korea and Singapore 95%. Others countries like China and Taiwan are in the top.
