RoHS Reach Beyondtech

Beyondtech, Inc is committed to addressing climate change.

The acronym RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances, an environmental European law that mandates the reduction of certain materials used in electric and electronic products and their parts.

This law was first adopted in 2003 and since then, all products imported to EU countries need to be compliant with these standards. All our cables currently in the European Markets compliance with this norm.

RoHS directive restricts the use of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls, Polybrominated diphenyl ether in IT and Telecommunication equipment, among other categories.

In the telecommunication industry, these regulations have to do with the raw materials, since in the fiber optics manufacturing process no new substances are created. All components, particularly the jacket, the connector housing (ferrules) and the rest of the materials used in the process follows the RoHS standards.

RoHS implementation is due to the increasing level of high-tech waste or trash. World’s landfills are being filled with hazardous components, causing adults and children to get sick and poisoned.

Following RoHS standards helps reducing damage to people who lives where the e-waste is sent. It also benefits electronic and telecommunication industry workers in manufacturing operations by decreasing health issues.

Beyondtech RoHS Certificate:

If a Beyondtech product complies with RoHS specifications, its package will be identified with any of these logos.

RoHS in the United States

Although RoHS initiative started in Europe, several non-EU countries such as Canada, Japan, South Korea and the U.S have followed the lead.

In the United States, California's Electronic Waste Recycling Act passed a law that forbids selling electronic products and devices that are prohibited under EU’s RoHS directive.

Another U.S states that already follow RoHS regulations or are in a pending process include Florida, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, among others.
